Is ieUnit a cryptocurrency?
No. ieUnit is a measure, not a means of payment. You cannot pay with it and (in this phase) cannot buy it.
Can I buy ieUnit?
No. ieUnit is a reference value. A later use as an asset is conceivable but not the purpose.
Why do you calculate geometrically?
Because that is the correct method for value developments. A simple average would be dominated by the strongest risers. The geometric mean keeps all nine in balance. More in the methodology.
Can the numbers be manipulated?
The rules are fixed and public, the sources are disclosed, and every value can be recalculated. There is no manual intervention. Trust here comes from disclosure, not from a promise.
What does it cost?
Nothing. ieUnit is free – the values, the charts and the API. If you want to support the operation: this way.
Why is XIN not in the basket?
XIN is the coin of Infinity-Economics, which plans to use ieUnit. That is precisely why it does not belong in the basket: ieUnit is meant to be an independent measure against which XIN itself can be compared. That would not work cleanly if XIN were part of it. The XIN/ieUnit ratio is still shown openly.
What happens if a data source fails?
It is ignored and the remaining sources keep calculating. If all sources for one value fail at once, the last valid value remains until data is available again.
